Medicine Message 2: Freedom To Be Wild

What is in you is wild and repressed. You hide by lowering your volume, and by trying to silence what is externally loud, as your heart screams its disastrous vibrations above it all. There is nothing to conquer, when someone allows you to help, it is not an invitation to take everything over. In positions of leadership, your suppressed wild side shows. Temporarily in the shadow, it waits for its moment to deconstruct and destroy the beautiful gift being presented to you. When trapped in ego, you allow the rising of the hidden shadow to win, you allow yourself to blame the poison in you on someone else. You bring the chaos, by nature of the chaos within you, that you ignore. Look in the mirror, and be honest with how you prepared for the ceremony. Take into account the energetic residue of the days before and the actions you took. Lots of TV, sex, drugs, unhealthy foods, and partying is not how to prepare for a ceremony, especially if you are in a position of leadership. There is not enough sage in the world that will take away the fact that you have to work on cleansing your own energy as a daily part of your life, while being mindful of who you allow to walk through it. You’re not a garbage can.

Don’t pretend to know or understand what anyone is doing, saying, or feeling, until you have made resting in silence a priority in your life. You can’t truly hear anyone through the noisy filter of a clouded mind filled with expectations. You can’t feel the sincerity, nor trust the process of what is being presented, from a fearful heart. You can’t control the gift, nor the gift giver. When you attempt that, you rob yourself of the surprise that brings joy, because you think only your way is the way. It is impossible for you to control everything. You don’t walk into the emergency room and start doing your own stitches. Allow yourself to be helped. Humility is key, you were alone before the thing to be “taken over” presented itself, it is that desire of taking things over and controlling what is not yours, that keeps you in addictive lonely spirals. You want to numb the feeling of failure from trying to control that which you can not. The work is bigger than us all, sit down and learn. If you think you can do it better, please, start. More people are needed. Learn the medicine songs, write your own, learn the meditations, read the books, write the poetry prayers, create the following, create the questionnaire, read them, learn the instruments, be an activist outside of ceremony, respond to each need with sincerity, remember repeatedly that it is not about you, show up strong despite how exhausting the preparation can be, survive being ignored and under appreciated, be willing to die for it, be willing to be locked up for it, take the risk. If none of that sounds like it is to your liking, please be quiet, sit down, and take that moment to pull the blanket over your head and cry, be open to being helped, let the pain out. My body is not my age, neither is yours.

See beyond the limitation.
I See – is a prayer.
Freedom to be wild.

Love and Kindness are enough.

Medicine Message 1

Be born today. Allow yourself to be born. Birthing is difficult for the one being born, and the one holding the experience in compassionate care long enough for you to pass through. Fear not what is on the other side of being born so much that you stay in the tunnel, the in between of becoming. The butterfly is useless in the cocoon, or perhaps not useless – food for another being. That which does not become, goes swiftly to decay. The cycle must continue. It’s not that you have to know better, you just have to remember better. It’s not that time waits for no one, it’s that you are time, and you’ve forgotten the depth of the part you play in creating the beauty you have come to admire as something outside of yourself. Words can forever only touch, they can only hint, they can only point in the direction towards the images of the infinite. You are one with it all, one with the infinite, so the voice you hear in your head is also that, you should follow your own advice, the wise part of yourself that stands still in the middle of crumbling chaos. Stop silencing that, stop allowing that voice to get lost in the noise. There is no such thing as noise, every thing has purpose, what annoys you in regards to what you call noise, is that it takes you deeper away from hearing your own inner silent note (words fail me here, for if a note is silent can it be called such?). Make time for hearing it against all odds. But here we are again, you can not make time, you are it. Remember that you can hear the wisdom of your very own soul, remember that it has value, remember that no one can reveal that value to you but you. That is why you are here, to remember that value, and to sing it out into the world. I am not a writer. I am writing. Not as an action, as a state of being. I am writing, I am it. Who cares? What are you…

Morning Meditation Message 23

We come home and lock our doors. We leave and lock our doors. Everywhere is the automatic practice of protecting ourselves from the ever pressing realization that we can not trust our neighbors. This protection has become automatic. This protection has become an accepted part of everyday life. This way of being has made its way into the hearts of billions of people, a collective consciousness that practices fear – that justifies it via the evening news. You see, it is up to us to feed our hearts and minds something else, the possibility of unfolding a new paradigm. A world where we don’t have to lock our doors, or our hearts. Inspect the speed at which you lock people out – how you pretend no one is home. That way of being is connected to how you refuse to answer your phone when a wounded friend calls. Someone else’s pain is the needle point that bursts your heart so that compassion may flow as golden honey from it. Wouldn’t you love to find out just how sweet you really are when you aren’t slamming your doors shut? Behind the door is your pain, that secret wound you want no one to see, but in the waves of unseen vibrational expressions of the heart, there are no secrets. Intuition is original sight, love the pain out of the world, and allow the world to love the pain out of you.

Morning Meditation Message 22

On the mornings when it is hard to get up, on those days when you feel like your body and the world has betrayed you, remember that nothing is permanent. From the seeds of your despair a new beginning is being created, but you will have to free your heart from bitterness to receive it. On those mornings when the phone is too far to answer the call from a loving friend, remember the friend that lives forever in your heart. Even as the illness makes its way deeper into your blood, do not lose hope. Close your eyes and float above your life and see it from the grand perspective of all encompassing life. See how even the abuse that has happened to you, once you get over it, can become a source of compassion and understanding that allows you to help and free others. The only mistake is not seeing completely the possibility that you can fly above whatever the challenge is in your life at any given time. In fact, the gate has already been opened, by your ability to seek that which is nourishing, by the part of you that made it to the end of this paragraph in such a busy distracting world. Have a blessed day.

Mindful Shaman

Eyes wide open,
not knowing they’re asleep,
so many prefer the token,
compassionate tears I weep.

Saying “he’s too sensitive”
but see, it is not so.
I just love you so deeply,
show up for your show.

See how they wait,
clapping before you arrive,
set your sight straight,
alive but not alive?

My goodness, much has happened,
and I know that happened too,
but excuses are excuses,
time to see you.

Recipe: Becoming a Wild Flower in a Paved World

You will need a few things
and you have none of them right now.
Read that lie again, and erase it from your mind.
That is step one, overcoming the lie
that you are not enough.

Skipping that step,
will burn everything before you begin.
You are not clever enough
to thwart the laws of manifestation,
and why would you want to?
To prove what? That you are alone?

See your self-masochism for what it is.
The universe is you,

Stop denying your own support.

Because you hurry through so much
I find pleasure in repeating my lines
a sentence is easier than an incarnation
so I write to remind you
and to free my soul.

See your self-masochism for what it is.
The universe is you,

Stop denying your own support.

The time between steps varies
from wild flower to wild flower.
The past serves only as compost.
A summer bloomed orchid
and a plastic house plant
will never be alike.
Celebrate the real in you,
let rotting things rot,
and allow the melting of the facade.
Open the window of your eyes
and let the stinging soot out,
allow it not to cloud your future anymore.

You must find the other hippies.
Listen to what they have to say.
Some have grown up,
and stopped wearing their flowers,
they conformed out of safety,
but they give themselves away,
via the hope they still have for the world.
They are the first to help in a disaster.
They can’t help it. Thank God.

Broaden your concept of God,
to fit more than the people,
who look just like your tribe.
All humans look alike,
stop killing our rain forests
and its animals.

And now for Step 2
This thing here we call life,
is all about you,
and indeed the butterfly too.
Finish the rest of this poem,
with the delicate actions of your life.

Let Bake for an entire age.

Serving Size: Planetary.

Morning Meditation Message 21

It is okay to be on the verge of tears, in a place not fit for them. Not many places in our world are dedicated to crying, so you must take the spaces as they arrive. Knowing that anyone who judges your emotional out pour, is holding a secret tear too. People will be mad at you for not helping them uphold their illusion of keeping it together. Compassion is contagious. Some see your tear, and remember that they too need to cry, and in that particular moment, they may not want to remember, they may not want to embrace the collective wound. Now here you come, all heart on your sleeve like. Your nakedness makes people uncomfortable. It is okay to make people uncomfortable. It doesn’t take much. Did you get into how crowded this place is yet? We were bound to bump into your tears sooner or later. Every drop is perfect. And I know you know, just like I know, tears do dry, wounds do heal, and life – though it never ended – somehow begins again. Have a perfect day. Remember that it is your perspective that makes it so. Aho!

Morning Meditation Message 20

Learn to say no, politely if you must. It doesn’t have to be shouted filled with conflicting feelings of pain and discomfort birthed from a desire to endlessly please that which is killing you. Not everything offered freely is for you. Learn to say no. No to the self judgement, no to the abusive relationship, no to the abusive job out of alignment with your true purpose, no to the harboring of unresolved feelings in the heart, no to the mean things you say to yourself in your mind. A wise soul once told me “Kevon, No, is a complete sentence.” Sometimes we want to explain and justify our reasoning to the one who doesn’t understand our refusal of whatever it is, saying no and repeating it with calm in your eyes can easily get your point across. If something is unhealthy for your being, why do you think you need more words than “no” to end it? Sometimes the first thing to let go of is the unneccessary use of words in situations that are best handled in silence. If no does not work, say it while walking away. Let the decision to honor your most beautiful self be so strong, that it moves your feet into the possibility of your dream. You have said yes to so much crap that makes your spirit ill. Feed your purpose clarity, by learning to say no.

Grandma’s Combs

Those cheap little combs
their teeth stung you know
little vampires of the scalp
nap eradicators they were
all for just 99 cents
back when gum was a penny
the sugar never lasted
eat another one fast
this comb has missing teeth
grandma says my mouth
will suffer the same fate
but this gum is so good
and so cheap like this grease
naps so tight they need water
I don’t unravel easy
sting of scalp plucked
bald chicken bravery
deep fried soul
tender and juicy heart
that metaphor was stupid
but you get it
tired of being too careful
thick brows trimmed
photo-shopped thoughts written
too careful without the mistakes
the comb loses more teeth
grandma dies
I remember her laugh and sneeze
so damn loud
Hurricane Gilbert loud
a Jamaican reference
yes I am that too, spiced
curry and ginger
warrior blood simmered
finger still on trigger
birds are too beautiful
to be wild they say
the vapor of clouds
taste like jet plane exhaust
this is supposed to be
going somewhere
but it isn’t really
like the parts of myself
I keep chewing off
to be perfect
sloppy life, sloppy words
no meter, chaos
all beautiful
I’ve stopped combing
through myself
with a fine tooth
comb
such sweet room

I miss you Granny.

Morning Meditation Message 19

Call forth the healing of the ancestral wound. The part of you, your conscious mind does not know is hurt. Genetic wounds that have long outgrown their stay. How? Intent works magic, simply intend for that to be a part of your inner healing journey, then the wisdom of your soul and the infinite light it is connected to will do the rest. Buried in your bones are the memories of the slave trade, or the concentration camp, or the eradication of indigenous tribes and their language – the pain of medicine men and women destroyed long before we had the limits of science to explain the mystery of life as inaccurately as it does. It is inaccurate because the picture is not complete, there are intangible things, things that can not be measured in the mind of the one doing the measuring. Show me the infinite-ruler that can measure the infinite, such a thing does not exist. And then we put all the measured things in books and call it “knowing,” and become arrogant when someone tells us “There is more to life,” especially if we view that person as less than our self. But, this is not “knowing,” it is “remembering” and what you see in our books is simply what we have remembered, but knowing is infinite, and can not be bound by pages. Knowing is a state of being, a state of surrender, a divine receptivity of the moment. For that which is already flowing within you does not need to be fought to be attained, just remember to be still and what you need to know will come when you need to know it. We are still expanding the the capacity of our intelligence. Work on your emotional intelligence, in order to heal and transcend the ancestral wounds of the past. Words are medicine. Thank you for taking mine in. I love you, I really do. How can I help?
